    Go to a kitchen factory and ask them to hoarde 'cover sheets' of 18mm MDF. Should be a fraction of the price of ply mate, and plenty strong enough to stop an opportunistic thief or kid.

    By my prior post I only meant for you (or really the OP) to not feel guilty for shooting a hind, especially one that has raised a small fawn. There are enough hinds around now that we can shoot them...

    A mate of mine stopped shooting young animals, then stopped shooting pregnant hinds, then wouldn't shoot stags in velvet, then gave up hunting.

    It came out of Trentham Base Ordnance Depot in the 1960's when they disposed of the few they still had in the stores. I got it from the late Robbie Tiffen a few years ago.
