I never had issues killing a hare with a .22. Hit them, they die. I do miss good Aussie powerpont though.

I found it really good out of the 12" barrel of my wee bolt action marlin. Quieter and hits harder than CCI 40gr subs. Pretty accurate too.

A semi-auto 22mag would make a great pest gun if you really need speed. But I reckon a howa mini with a bunch of spare magazines, wouldn't be much slower and a damn sight more useful.

I've always been infatuated with the 243. Only ever shot two deer with one. Wouldn't mind one, threads like this are not good for my wallet.
