Great choice of city!!! Very good for general outdoors, but no super close deer stalking. There are deer in those spots you've mentioned, but you're MUCH better of driving a but further. For good...

I never had issues killing a hare with a .22. Hit them, they die. I do miss good Aussie powerpont though.

I found it really good out of the 12" barrel of my wee bolt action marlin. Quieter and hits harder than CCI 40gr subs. Pretty accurate too.

My thinking is turning more and more to the 243. About to get one for my sons first centrefire, so looking forward to testing that. Spotting shots with a lightweight .308...yeah not sure about that....

A semi-auto 22mag would make a great pest gun if you really need speed. But I reckon a howa mini with a bunch of spare magazines, wouldn't be much slower and a damn sight more useful.

I've always been infatuated with the 243. Only ever shot two deer with one. Wouldn't mind one, threads like this are not good for my wallet.

There is no need for anything longer than 20" for a 308. 16" only for a dedicated, or at least mostly, bush rifle. Between 18 and 20 is probably the sweet spot. Mine is 19" used as an alrounder. I...
