Greetings, AR2208 is easy to ignite, especially with LRP in a .308 case. Magnum primers give no advantage and possibly less than that. My go to powder in the .308 is AR2206H and has been for some...

I agree that they shouldn't be left by the track, but as far as shooting animals and not taking any meat off them I really couldn't care less. When you see the state of some of our forest parks...

    1. If it were doc/contract hunters, they wouldn’t shoot from track 2. If it were doc/contract hunters, they would move carcasses that are close to tracks 3. Due to numbers of animals these days...

Decide on barrel length by what you do, not by what others do. For shots sometimes over 200 yds using heavy bullets 20-22 inches is good for me. If lead in the air with bulk 55 grn shooting...

Been giving the press some love, stiffening things up, with some 6 by 2. Got to say it's performing beautifully 231311

Pure confidence and competence (for classic NZ hunting) for me. Bow=30m 223=150m 308 300m.

I'm going to say 200 metres if everything is right. I don't get the opportunity to shoot much further than 50 metres most of the time and practice really does make perfect! I shot a goat when sitting...

I’m relieved by many answers here, I don’t hunt often enough to feel confident past 300m. I hunt with a guy who’s great on the long shots and I’ve stuffed a few up and he’s been lined up and done...

Sounds a bit like my grandfather. He always told me to shake the barrels when shooting at a mob of ducks to spread the pattern out a bit. It must work because quite often a different duck than I...

It is true that with 55gn projectiles there is little difference but modern 223s will happily shoot 80+gn projectiles. There in lies the biggest difference.
