Don't be dumb, get a surpressor and look after your hearing. The other advantages are a wee bonus.

Yes to talleys. Got them on my mini, had them on a long action, will be putting them on my 308 when I get round to it. They are base and ring in one unit. Although separate front and rear.

2.5 for me. I've hunted with lots of low power scopes including 2-7 leupold, 1.75-6 bushnell and now a 2-8 Nikon. Always set it on 2.5 and seems to be perfect for me.

I use 150gr Nosler BT and performance has been great. I've always had great accuracy and good terminal performance from Hornday SPs, both 150gr and 165gr, these are super cheap.
