Thompson's Track road has been fenced off on BoP end but Thompson's Track Waikato side has not, so one can still access the Kauritatahi area, and land administered by EV.

A family friend some years ago found the skeleton of a horse in the Urewera's that was still tethered to a tree by halter and lead rope, we have always wondered what the story behind that was.

I would have thought returning to quad as similar to returning to horse if having to leave it to hunt on foot.

That only happens if one soaks their socks in the tea billy....I think some of the hunters and trampers who have gone bush and never been found have been guilty of this when their mates catch them at...
