I went through similar thoughts, now have a 26" rem mag with brake in manners stock and a suppressed 19" 284. One for open country tahr shooting etc the other for my general hunting. Ballisticaly on...

There's plenty of land available to hunt legally, the light penalties for the activity is frustrating. More likely to get a fine for not wearing a helmet on the quad than for poaching it seems...
