They are really catering for a different market than the 'sight in the hunting rifle in then go hunting type'. You can do that at the NZDA ranges really. In fact Taupo is great for that.

Bill, commercial tube will have an angled end of the tube, milspec tube will be squared off, ie straight. You may even have a rifle buffer tube with the screw hole in the end, that def wont fit.
