    For centerfire, up to the point where the projectile goes trans-sonic, to me is long range. Beyond that is extreme long range. So if you take a 308/708/260 type round, 300-1000yds would be long...

    Steven, every single "coater" I have spoken to, the first reason they give is "I don't have to clean my rifle", so I'd say it seems to cure an aversion to cleaning rifles...
