I do a lot of work for professional pest controllers, almost all go 223 tikka in this instance. Cheap available ammo and you really do have to go some to beat a Tikka for the money.

Without doubt a gentle clean and maybe light rub with fine wire wool to remove surface rust and dirt then oil Similar with the stock, wiping with turps then boiled linseed oil to feed the wood.
