The target you showed at the top will be fine, assuming the marks on it are 1 inch marks. You could also some 0.5 inch marks as well. 10MOA each way will be enough.

Unless you can shoot a one hole group then you can never be quite sure wether the error is from the scope or something else. See if you can invent something to hold it steady
