    My old man says a bit of pitting puts some spin on the charge:thumbsup:. I think it would have to be very excessive to be unsafe. Most pitting that people worry about is just cosmetic.

    I think this is a very valid point. If you want to seriously use a Centre fire lever, get yourself a lever rimfire with the same manual at arms. It makes a big difference in how effective you are...

    Fair enough, then find a Rossi 44 magum. Old school style, straight wall case. Happy to use and abuse because its not an old collectable classic. I personally would go for a 20 inch barrel version.

    My grandfather was of the opinion that mallards would wise up fast to the fact that every time they got too close to a clump of manuka they got a charge of shot........ but I still use it.
