   I use 308 in bush aswell, i use 180gr norma bondstrikes, also used 165gr nosler bt's to good effect, prefer the heavier bonded in bush more twig resistant

   i reqret down grading to 7mm08 from 270. the 270 130sst out to 400m was about 400mm holdover, 7mm08 130g speer btsp same scope is like 900mm drop. the loads were 270 130sst 2209 52.5g 22" barrel...

    Just get a better rifle if you want an upgrade. The older I get the less critical the cartridge becomes. Anything will do fine out to 350m. (And yeah, I'd get it in .270 anyway if a rifle you like...
