I use a MTB inner tube on mine, it quite, cheap, water proof and haven’t melted it yet with a high rate of fire on goats. Can also use it as a fire starter if needed.

I always found if you could see the target you could see the dot. I did the most shooting with it on a shotgun for rabbits with a miners cap lamp clamped on the top of that as a poor man's big...
