Have read the 17 Hornet is the improved 17 cal round to have - better than the 17wsm which is not proving so successful. Anyone up to date on this? Delightful little weapon.. :)

Your 17" 284 impresses me. You could shoot a hell of a long way with a 162 Amax at 2700. Pretty cool for such a short rifle.

Yes that is why I tried the W760, as I had read about people getting good results with the H414 and W760 was readily available here. Can't wait to see what speed it produces.

If he wants to reduce recoil he needs to stay away from heavy projectiles. Stick to varmint 125 or 130 at low velocities. Way less recoil.
