    And I rarely rely on the safety with that particular rifle. I use the set triggger on it and it has actually gone off before when the set trigger is engaged and I've flicked the safety off. well...

    ....better to deal with "faff" than deal with an unintended or misdirected shot.... Not trying to criticize, but need to point out the number of accidents aren't always a result of "inexperienced"...

    cant get head around HOW it would be too noisy unless you hunt with no round in chamber........ most folks will either have safety on or have bolt with round on extractor and not shut completely....

    I truly feel sorry for Farmer John so easy in my day a cut down lee enfield. 303 or in my case a parkerhale sporter .303 ex army ammo bought for 10cents each from school mates.
