I've only ever crimped for semi auto or tube fed like my old Ruger .44 carbine Crimping for bolt action is a waste of time and i found of no benefit whatsoever.

This is really going to come down to how much money you have to spend. For long range you are going to want a lot of elevation adjustment and at least 20x magnification, most tend to prefer FFP...
