Dont over think it! Forget the cannelure, its just some fancy line around your boolit for another purpose, and has no relevance with your reloads. It is preferable to have your bullet seated bearing...

I use the deep creek method for finding the lands. 1. Strip down your bolt (firing pin, extractor. Everything that will put pressure on the case). 2. Find a sized case where the bolt drops freely...

Nicely done, will be a great hill stick. Jhon suggest you look at adjustable bipod walking/shooting sticks. Work really well for open country and tussock where you need the height to shoot from...

From the Hornady reloading manual... 176079 From experience loading the 154gr sst in 7mm08 I think you'll find the hornady listed C.O.L for your projectile will seat right to the cannelure, seemed...

General rule of thumb Heavy projectile for case then M Light projectile for case then X

Here's the exit on a fallow hit with a 7mm 180 ELD-M. 176038 The M's do just fine, even up close, provided they aren't pushed too hard.

The use of M's these days would have stemmed from the extensive and successful use of the old AMAX. Which was in fact by design a match projectile but good old Kiwi's turned it into a deer slayer...

Quite common yes. Often used for long rang hunting applications as when impact velocity decreases the softer ELD-M expands quite reliability and creates good wound chanels. Some harder purpose built...

Greetings All, I use a Lee loader for sizing my .303 cases. I place the case base down on my clean timber work bench top and drive the die down over it. I use a block of wood on top of the die to...

Bit of a myth that the Lee Loader is loud. Also a lot faster than some realise! Someone on the UK forum complained that his was too loud, getting marks on the case head when sizing and the Lee...

Those are their stated purposes as per Hornady, yes. The M's certain don't bounce off of deer though. They're both jacketed hollowpoints with polymer tips when you cross section them.
