I guessing the Rem mag "blew up " & left your "ears ringing" ??? "the wee nick in the suppressor" on the 222 was likely a tumbling projectile as 222s generally have an extremely slow twist

The suppressor is only a prohibited part when it is attached to a prohibited firearm If it was attached to an AR15 lower that has a 22LR upper & a 10 round or less magazine, it is completely legal...
