I prefer the 450 BM over the 300 AAC for that reason, the downside is they are harder to keep quite.

If you are shooting a 308 across a gully or up a hill at 500 yards with little/no wind indicators at an animal, you are going to need a huge amount of luck if you think you are going to kill it even...

Get a Stiller or Defiance, job done :) I have used three Stillers on clients rifles, very impressed. The Stiller will be cheaper & easier to get than the Defiance, if cost is an issue.
