For me I'd Skip the fluting, the stock looks to be an improvement with the riser, as does the bigger bolt knob. However my old one just works fine

Don't think you'll do any better with a sub 223 and jacketed projectiles which won't expand on impact compared to a soft lump of lead with a hollow point. Practice with the 22 will I think be better.

Hornet can be a difficult case to reload, the brass is thin and needs to be handled carefully to avoid crushed cases. I doubt that the range of lengths you have which are all within tolerance will...
