Ejector stamp is visible but what you don't see is your primer pockets enlarging as well, these usually go hand in hand.

Guys like Farm & Trail (wreckers) used to do lower frames sections made off jigs, so cut out and weld straight in. Not sure if there's much call for the older stuff now tho', as you say 20+ yrs old.

If you are hunting the FPS numbers, most 6.5s gain it simply by barrel length. For a GP rifle with nothing added to the spout, i'd go 22-24" or 20-21" if you want to add a suppressor.
