    As said, swap the screws out. I had a pair bind so bad with 20 inch pounds of torque that they had to be ground off. I prefer Talley also.

    I have used standard Tikka rings on my 300WM and 7mmRM without any problems. They do what they are supposed to do.

    No they aren't bad. One thing you could do is buy stainless steel screws to replace the soft factory ones as they will "chew out" only about $13 from gun works. Imo optiloks are too heavy and...

    Yup. Always leave the skin on. I vacuum seal as well but I always cold smoke. Never eaten just cured fish. You want it pretty dry so after washing off the cure I hang the fillets on the clothes line...
