    I'm going to respectfully disagree. Cannot get a more simple design than a single shot break barrel. Not much to go wrong. What newbie uses reloads anyway?

    Bergara are very good if somewhat heavy. A small package even when fully assembled. A 1:8 twist .308 16" barrel could be my one rifle to rule them all. Your requirements may differ.

    That is the best way and most fun. Last time I went possum shooting, I was the spotter (thermal + torch) and probably enjoyed it more than being the trigger man. There was no pressure to perform!
