I saw two fallow on the road to work this morning, mum and last years baby, by the look of it. I think my .222 is too much gun for the area I have access to, I bought a .22 Hornet when I first moved...

Well we must keep it in proportion - a .243 does more damage than a .222. But I am sure it is just sheer velocity and a soft bullet. But I am not a .222 expert like others on this thread. The...

You nailed it, my friend! Few weekend warriors could hit a flock of circus tents at 700-1,000 yards. We hear about the miraculous long shot kills on elk here in the States all the time. None of...

In my opinion if people have to ask these sorts of questions then a) they shouldn't use the cal and b) don't go hunting until you know your rifle. So much info in nz hunting books and on the internet...

The .222 does more damage to the deer than my .284 does!!! I shoot them anywhere with it, but I try for the neck. just because if i shoot the deer in the shoulder with the .222 the damage is just...

Mooseman Those were taken with a Russian copy of the old 35mm Leica. To post them here, I took photos of the original photos. I never took enough pics either. Bit of a thread hi-jack going on...

The cut rifling bought the bore out to .458" dia, so rifling is a good .007" deep. With a 1-20" twist should make a good 45-70 barrel, and or for someone thinking of nice big fat lead bullets.

I was pretty surprised with the accuracy. I picked a Bisley Bushranger up for cheap with a suppressor on it, which, noise wise sounds like an unsuppressed 22 firing mini-mags. So a 1.5" 3 shot group...

There is a margin of error with the .222 Hit anywhere in the hillar zone with a decent 50 grn bullet a deer will drop. Crease, a bit slower. But still dead. I always used a lung/crease shot where...
