you could do it with the lanski type set up as your stone will maintain the correct angle...take some time by the look of those chips...buy the man a Bacho or 3 for jobs like that.

try the 42grn winnies and you wont go back. possums you can either poke third eye socket or chest shoot...risk with chest shot is will they drop out clean or hangup in tree. with plucking it...

Boaraxa...I had one trap that was set as you describe....4 post staples held trap in place whole thing was set level with tree root on side of tree and chiselled down with tomahawk ...that one trap...

we often see hares at least 3-400yards into the native bush,and for what its worth,the backsteaks/straps from a hare treated like venison steak will give the best fallow/sika a run for their money.

if you can kill a std 2 litre milk bottle with rifle you are on the money for deer sized game,the range you can hit bottle will give you fair idea of range you can safely tackle game.
