    Get a second hand tikka in 7-08 from an Aucklander, the only dirty thing it will have seen is a bit of latte spill on it. And the inside of the barrel will probably be immaculate.

    There has been no mention of the manufacturer yet so how could he be running anyone down? And even if the manufacturer replaces/redesigns whatever is it still not something the shooting community...

    Knew someone would pipe up with that sooner than later. 308 would be a good choice as reasonably large bullet travelling at reasonably good speed and doesn't come with funny ponsonby coffe

    The example we were given in the course was that down might not be a safe direction (ie if you're upstairs), so giving down as the answer was wrong because you were making assumptions.
