When I looked into them I had read about the springs flying everywhere, one discussion recommended disassembly inside a rubbish bag with the ends taped around your arms by a mate.

I haven't got it but it's probably a good idea. The base is pretty thin, obviously to keep weight down, so you have to be pretty vigilant to clear the ground where you're setting up of anything...
