I'd say it's a bit too slow. Iirc, it's a tad slower than 2208. In my experience, the slow for calibre ball powders with light bullets burn like coal (which isn't great for consistency or accuracy)...

Having had a 243 for 40yrs in various rifles I'd suggest 18" as your shortage. Reasoning is you can shoot 100grn partition at good speeds for big deer and tahr without having to much speed loss.
