   It will work which ever you choose. But I would recommend 18 inches as a minimum for the 708 as it will give you far better velocity options. You can always go shorter later. 3050fps will not chew...

    I'm going off the lines of a softer bullet going slower will kill just as well as a lighter bullet travelling fast. Plus I can use the same projectile for my 284 and 708
