outlander liked post by TLB On thread : A question for the doubters
I love my .223 especially with the 75gr eldms, my son shot his first deer with it. However there is very very little margin for error. Hit a small piece of anything before the animal, animal moves...

culling I shot a lot of deer with a .222 which is very close to a .223 really but I would not recommend it - lost a few and thats never good -223 will do the job but really its a damn small...

Once again it all boils down to shot placement and using a cartridge within its (and your) limits. You can make them scream using a 223rem too.

Agree tedz50, 22mag can do the job no doubt. But no room for error. More bang is better.

I have shot a few goats and more than a few wallabies with the 22Mag but always went back to the 243 . Never had much faith in the 50 Gr 22Mag. 257830257831

outlander liked post by Fee Knicks On thread : Help needed regarding a Gun Safe....
If not worried about the safe itself - a disc grinder through the side or back would be just fine . The front will be an arse to cut into , and the sides are probably only 3 mm steel anyway. Thats...

It's a similar velocity at the muzzle, to a .223 with a good 80gr at 500 metres. But half the bullet weight. By 100 metres, the 40gr .22WMR bullet is similar velocity to an 80gr .223 at 800...
