The zeiss hd5 will probably be better than the vortex, vortex has good turrets not sure what zeiss are like. Zeiss is slightly heavier

I found just running them on the most dim setting did the trick, even then makes you blind when its dark. Getting the focus just right makes a big difference to when looking for awhile
