    Annealing before drilling would greatly help your cause. Otherwise some cobalt drills ,low speeds and high feed pressure with cutting oil.

    I have a Tikka M595, came in wood and blued. I have put the wood stock in the loft and fitted a plastic one because the quad can be rough on wood. I also got the metalwork cerakoted in black.
