Have lost count of the number of deer neck-shot with either 222 or 223 over the years. As others have stated, you need to be reasonably competent to pull off a good neck shot, doesn’t matter what...

Hopefully I am Replying to "turtleSO' , new to forum. I have shot hundreds of deer with my .222 shooting 55gn HORNADY SPs . Everything up to sambar. Never neck shots on roaring stags. I used to cull...

Unprepared, uneducated and poorly proficient hunters, such as myself, are also able to make multitudes of cockups at substantially closer ranges too.

With good weather forecast a quick overnight mission to the tops was in order. Being Easter weekend I thought heading somewhere a bit harder to get to would be a good idea and was hoping the stags...

Another vote One Planet. Have the Cocoon and it’s been great. Packs well and is easily warm enough. Pays to get their 800+ loft option as obviously it’s lighter for the same warmth.

Have looked a little closer and see they are on back order so I have reached out to check on lead times. Will come back once I know. If the group order gets much bigger I might have to take deposits...

I shoot the Hornady 55gn SPs exclusively in my Sako .222. I no longer shoot fallow in the lungs for meat as they bruise very badly. Only head or neck shoot now. When I did use to lung shoot I would...

Young fella wanted a trip up the Rakaia for his 11th birthday. 31 January, bit early but stripped nicely. Shot 10 min before last light and back to camp about midnight. 245903
