It's not a big calibre, but I'd use the steel recoil lug for sure. The action screws can't be tourqued too tight without damaging the plastic stock anyway. From memory it's about 30-35 inch pounds....

Looking forward to see what you end up with. I have just bought a Nikko Stirling "LR" in 6-24*50 as I want something that doesn't hurt too much to hold onto if/when I head off shore. Decent...

Tikka triggers are easily adjusted down to a nicely light weight yourself. Pull the action out of the stock and you can see the screw. There are a couple of good YouTubes about this. Google is your...

Hi guys, just noticed this thread. If it is of any interest I do make a 70gr HP/FB for target shooting & varmint shooting. I can also make variations in weight but the 70gr is the bullet I keep in...

I used a Sako Hunter in 243 for a while; 75 grain HP Sierra, in very carefully assembled cartridges to get consistent 3/4" five shot 100yd grouping. Shot a lot of rabbits and hares at longer ranges...

You could put a break on it so you can watch the hits. A breaked 243 wouldn't have much recoil or jump I would imagine. It would enhance the noise factor some what.

For long range you will need the right twist to be competitive with a fast .22 Last time I ran the numbers, to me the .22 with heavy weight projectiles only needed to be 100fps faster than the likes...
