Personally I think you need to ring every ounce of speed out of the .223 that you can , especially when you start to use heavier projectiles. In my uneducated view longer the better within reason ....

Just got back from a few days there. Each morning I'd make a cup of coffee and stare outside the window in wonder. My cup is full. The only negative from the trip was tagging with black sharpie...

I use Targex 80 grn on wallaby too. No reason not to. Not expensive and great ballistics. Way better in the wind. And no mucking iaround swapping loads for deer. While the 80’s haven’t been around...

Yeah still got the big canon and the 308 but the 223 is such a joy to use. And a lot cheaper to run other than flinging brass all over the place on goats. I've still shot more deer with a 223 than...

Great shooting. Ive used 80 grn Targex out to 425 yds but couldn't do it off walking poles. They will almost go right through a lung shot Fallow at that range - bullet just under the skin. With a...

The Turangi fishery is going well at the moment, maybe the cold snap and or moon phase? Had 4 days, landing a fish per half hour of fishing on average. Only one slab, and about 50% freshies.

Yes, 11oz to 17oz is a 50% weight increase. But, are you comparing the same models ? For example, I have two Leupold scopes of the same model ( VX6 1-6 x 24 ), one non-illuminated, the other...

I’m not sure where you have got the 50% idea from. In my experience of owning plenty of illuminated and non illuminated scopes, any weight difference is negligible. Maybe 50grams? Sent from my...
