Have to admit, this whole debate has got me wondering about cartridge options when I've shot out my .243 barrel, 8 twist .243 so I can use the 105 Berger maybe, an 18" .308 with a decent suppressor...

Had a few failures with them in 28 nosler so changed to 175 Eld X and great results 175eldx has a very good bc anyway and is a hunting projectile that opens up and follows through like a nosler...

The only way down in weight from a carbonlight is ultralights like a howa mini 6.5 grendel in a ken Henderson stock or a kimber Montana I'm a real fan of Kimber's for this type of work. Any 243-308...

If your mainly shooting the likes of hares or rabbits, i'd go with the 17hmr. If you were also targeting goats at close ranges id go 22 mag.
