Yep, solo reccy mission to check out a spring hunting spot. The straight line is a blade of grass, so not much help at all really. A wider angle pic would show the river about 2 metres in front...

.22 supersonic reaches full velocity in about 16" of barrel, and becomes measurably slower after about 24". I would think 9-10" would give subsonic velocity with hi-speed ammo. At that length you...

I shoot a 6" barrelled pistol CCI standard still does 975fps, in my 20" rifle it does 1050-1075fps so going short doesn't slow down much supersonic loads would not slow down to sub velocity in a 6"...

They don't tend to in fact as 300_BLK says they are not going to go much faster with a longer barrel (look at the chart). I recon 14-16" is ideal.

The longer the barrel the quieter it will be with a suppressor

Depends what round you want to shoot but could be as short as 3-4" BBTI - Ballistics by the Inch :: .22 Results (http://www.ballisticsbytheinch.com/22.html) Not really practical for a rifle.

Not sure it would be feasable or legal. Firing hv from a pistol doesn't make it subsonic. in fact, i'm guessing you would have to have an impracticably long barrel to actually slow the projectile...

The problem as I see it with this idea & the ported/suppressed barrels that make supers subs is there is no going back. If you ever want to shoot supers you can't. I believe subsonic ammo has...
