   Breaking shoe laces is another one that slows you down. I've had to improvise once with Nylon cord I use to hang deer up with. Worked well.

    Tie dog up when occupied with traps etc, walk on lead till he gets idea. Or buy tracking/training collar. They soon get the idea if they know there’s consequences for misdemeanours.
