Stocky liked post by Cigar On thread : Introduction
I think it’s more about introducing yourself before trying to sell something, rather than posting something general. There have been a lot of people who’s first post is a for sale post, they...

I would politely disagree with you there. The 303brit one I used was very good as a hunting rifle. It was far more accurate than I will ever be, and was given the name "the hammer" by my hunting...

A good bugger on here has sorted me out with some 2213sc and 2217. Will post up the 2217 results when I get around to loading and chronographing them.

Stocky liked post by Danger Mouse On thread : Myth? - shorter barrel = use faster powder?
I think it's a bit different to what is described. You are trying to get to max safe pressure, and maintain that pressure in order to achieve the most force and thus acceleration on the projectile....

Stocky liked post by gundoc On thread : Myth? - shorter barrel = use faster powder?
It all depends if you want muzzle blast or velocity. Shorter barrels burn faster powders more efficiently than slower powders but the shorter barrel precludes getting optimum velocity. Long barrels...

I put some numbers through GRT for entertainment: 6.5x55 SE with 129gr Interlocks, 20" vs 29" barrel. Max Loads (same charge, barrel length doesn't change the load) 20" 29" 2206H...

Stocky liked post by stagstalker On thread : Myth? - shorter barrel = use faster powder?
My experience has been that the “use fast burning powders for a short barrel” isn’t really a thing. Certain powders in certain configurations just tend to give better velocities then others and is...

The received wisdom I've heard is, the powder that gives top velocity in the long barrel is probably the powder you should use in the short barrel.

Stocky liked post by dannyb On thread : Model 7 7mm08 150gn eldx load development
I haven't gained a heap of velocity by using 2208 instead of 2209 but I have achieved what I set out to do, which was to gain a little more velocity with less powder and a load that is not...

Storm in a teacup. As others have said, if farmers don’t want their stock disturbed they’ll just deny access. Other farmers may give access but with restrictions e.g. no hunting near stock but a free...

What's your problem? Lambing has been going on for over a month now in various parts of the country. As long as hunters stay away from lambing flocks thre shouldn't be any problem. Best goat...
