    I've just put a kahles ct 3-9x42 on my rifle. It is nice to look through and has a good field of view. I've never looked through a Z3 though so can't compare.

    Look for the sun, that's where the deer will be. About 2/3 of the way up the hillsides, out of the wind. They won't be moving much so keep going until you hit fresh sign, then slow down.

    Fluting will save hardly any weight. How much does a new fluted barrel cost? ie buy a new fluted barrel and sell your unfluted barrel. Might work out cheaper.

    Why build a short light rifle and then and put a big heavy scope on it? I've got a Bushnell 6500 2.5-16x42 on mine. It is suppose to be 17oz but is actually 19oz. I wouldn't want any bigger. Options...
