I am a secondary school teacher who enjoys hunting, especially getting high in te hills and glassing. I use a 7mm remington magnum.

    Get ones with a lever lock adjuster, not the twist lock ones.

    Pretty sure the lead ban is only for shooting waterfowl gamebirds, unless there is a local bylaw. From memory you can hunt quail and pheasants along riverbeds with lead shot.

    We just use to walk the flats with an underwater light. Just for giggles I used my bow a few times. In the sixties my Dad use to hunt Kawhia harbour for flounder. They would drag a boat behind them...

    162 is the optimum weight in 7mm mag. You don’t gain enough by going to 180gr. What you gain in BC you lose in velocity and extra recoil. To really get the advantage of 180’s you need more case size....
