"out there" with a 22 is probably anything past 120M . . . . haha rule of thumb is shooting a 22 is the equivalent of shooting a CF at 3 times the distance, so at 22 target at 300 is about the same...

What Flyblown says about power is correct. The guys I know who win at 22 comps run thier scopes at 6x for most shots. My own 22 comp scope is a 3.5-10 and I've never found it a limitation.
