Each individual rifle is different and some 310(and ++) bores will shoot 308 projectiles just fine, I can't tell the difference with my Howa 7.62x39. As has been mentioned if you don't go looking...

If you go in from the Tapanui side via Black Gully Rd there's a legit wee camping ground there, quite nice. I think the reason for "no camping" is the supposed fire and H&S risk for the forestry...
