Not really, for my money...and my style of hunting (and I stress HUNTING not target shooting at 500 yards) the .243 is hard to walk past, cheap to run, flat trajectory, good out to 300 metres on...

I came out of the closet a while ago, it hurts at first but they do accept you after a while. Owning a .308 and .270 is just accepted as being Bi-polar*

Superformance and RL26 is definitely the way to go for performance in these mid sized cartridges. I decided against the wiz bang powders, partially due to temperature sensitivity but most due to...

Used simple tarps/bivi bag for years but over the last few years I’ve been rolling the dice a bit and not taking a bivi bag. I’ve come to the conclusion as stated already, tents that can pitch...

I have a Smiths equivalent from Ashburton. I had it in the Kaimanawas for 4 days in constant rain and it was excellent. Fire etc works a treat. I opted to support NZ made.

Any budget, I would also suggest a Burris, I think most would consider the vortex to be a more entry level scope. But still fine for day shooting, not so sure if it would be recomended for long...
