Yeah, 95% of scopes dont have a zero stop however things like the Vortex HS has capped turrets (so aren't getting movied as easily) but also have circular numbers underneath the turret so you know...

If you prefer a gun which is easy to shoot (low recoil) then honestly 6.5mm is the way to go, .260, 6.5cm, 6.5x55 etc. Energy retention, windrift, drop, penitration etc etc it just has so much going...

Depends on your budget, you can get a Model 7 in 6.5CM, so a true short action but able to fit the long stuff, dropbox mag, 20" tube and a HS stock for 2k. It would probably be close to the same...

Interesting, About the same money as a model 7 223 once you include the floorplate. However slightly better twist in the Howa of 8 vs 9 in the M7 - plus more caliber options too I guess.

Given the CM both 6.5 and 6.0 are designed to work in short actions with long pills it will work great imo.
