Lightly tap down the edges of the dovetail with a small hammer. That will tighten it up a treat (standard gunsmithing trick).

Get a few cage traps they are really effective especially on cats and you can easily let go unwanted catches. True story he did stink to buggery !! However I recently caught a ferret in a cage...

have a look at an OZPIG type fire/cooker they are along similar lines but cylinder is sideways/laid down ,great work on passing on skills.
