I had one of these in .223 and it was not free floated from the factory. It shot amazingly well. I'm thinking something else is going on here. What does the crown look like?

Nice post. I think you have it. Maybe get someone to ream it out for .22WMR. Even less need for quick reloads and no worries about them being too long for the magazine.

I have an old Daisy that has an amazing trigger, it's quite a clever design and contains a couple of ball bearings, I wish they would use that trigger on some of the centre fires out there.
