The end of a very long day, trudging noisily up hill to camp. The dog stops and fully locks up. After standing still for what felt like an eternity (probably 3 minutes) I spotted a hind ghosting...

er Bigger and faster is always better, 300 wsm pushing 200 grs the way to go. BUT I'm looking forward to using the mighty 222 Sako vixen again.

I shoot things at 80 metres, its a lot simpler. If I shot at a deer 420 metres away with a 70 grain semi round nose, I doubt it would even go that far.

2206H is giving good accuracy and speed in my Tikka, 43.5 grs with the 165 gr SST gives 2740 fps out of the 20 inch barrel. In my rifle 2208 was a little slower but good accuracy.

It will kill a deer even if it doesn't expand. Just because a projectile expands doesn't mean a thing and certainly shouldn't be used to base the terminal performance of a bullet off. A good cast...

With 70-80 grn bullets I use 1,800 fps as a max range as far as penetration and expansion goes and then factor in wind and other variables, and my ability. It usually means 350/375 yds pulls me up....

Case overall length for your rifle will be determined by either your chamber or what will fit in your mag. A rough way I do it is size a case start to seat a projectile then I load it it my rifle and...

Right or wrong, that is a normal shooting situation in rural areas. I've always been safety conscious, but am increasingly adverse to getting myself in situations where someone might complain. It's...

For the past 10y I have done very little shooting. I see Mitch posted the date on a new barrel he fitted in my .284 as 2019. I only fired it a few weeks ago for the first time. Primers are now...

Trout lodged an activity report with the Police, which I've just closed off. No visit from police or public, except for one old Johnny who stopped in to get a couple of rabbits for his Foxy!

As said above if only shooting out to 200m any lead tip will be more than effective. I’d just go with a box of 150gr of whatever’s reasonably priced. Always practice out further than you want to...
