Greetings All, At least the 6.8 mm Western has a twist suitable for high BC projectiles. For far too long US cartridges have been kneecapped with slow twists. A case could be made for 8 inches being...

Nice set up. I run something broadly similar, an 85 .243 with a 20in barrel and a dpt can. It’s not particularly light with the chunky sako rings and bases combo, and a heavyish scope. But really...

Well, one of these, fell into my lap, work mate, has been trying to sell his Barrett, he has been yapping, about shooting to a mile, so I figured 50 cal, Just to humor him, I said, will take a...

Well not dinner but lunch, I shot a very fat stag last week and had my first go at processing all the meat rather than sending it to the butcher. Pretty sure I have cracked it, hung for 10 days then...

Blue Nose and chips. Last night's dinner. Started in frypan, skin down and hot as. Then through some tomatoes around it and some butter on top. Into over at 150 deg to finish it for about 10mins. ...

Tussock liked post by ChrisW On thread : Is it time to leave the 27 gang?
If projectile manufacturers properly supported .270 it could be very good. It sits between 6.5 and 7mm, so projectile manufactures should be able to make projectiles with a bc in between that of the...

.270 is a diameter neglected by projectile manufacturers. 7mm has a much better choice of efficient projectiles.

They dont even need to be crazy hot or anything. I had a 20" barreled 270 pushing 150 LRAB at 2850 and smacked over all sorts of stuff way out to 600yds+ with it no worries, done more hunting with...

The recoil characteristics of the 7Mag are totally different to a 270. My last 270 weighed 6lb all up and felt like getting hit in the shoulder with a hammer. 7Mag is more like a slow push. I...
