What method did you use? You can use a sharp(like new craft knife etc) knife cutting from skin side out so you dont cut hair to trim up the outline to a more natural shape.

Have you RTFM? Set up on a stable bench plug in and turn on. it will count down warm up time or should. to calibrate, with nothing on the scale at all press cal/zero to zero the scale. Then...
